Supporting the fast food industry
Political Campaigning
We are the leading trade body representing your views on key issues at the highest levels of Government, pressing for support for businesses through rising costs and campaigning for action to tackle devastating VAT, Salary costs and labour shortages. As the voice of the fast food industry, we ensure Ministers, government departments and politicians understand and address the most pressing challenges facing the sector.
VAT and the fast food industry
Reducing the VAT rate
The UK has one of the highest value-added tax (VAT) rates in Europe, burdening our global competitiveness. When the VAT was temporarily lowered for the hospitality sector during the pandemic, we saw it stimulate demand and revenue. Reducing the VAT rate remains a top priority. We will continue urging the government to lower it, especially ahead of the Budget.
